Picnic ideas for a sunny day:
Fill thermos flasks or Chilly bottles with cold gazpacho. It’s really easy to make. Or you can buy cartons of it ready made and pretend you made it.
Spanish tortilla. Fry up some potatoes, whisk in some eggs and you have a real feast. You can add in onions or peppers or chorizo or anything you fancy. Let it cool and slice it up. Or buy one ready made. Rough it up a bit and claim it’s homemade.
Tomato salad – thinly slice tomatoes (different colours make this look amazing) and a bit of red onion, then dress with balsamic vinegar and add a bit of basil. Pop it in an airtight container and it will just taste better when it’s all mingled for a bit. Heaven.
Crusty bread and good salted butter.
Strawberries of course. Perhaps with meringues and definitely with cream. Mix them up and you’ve got Eton Mess.
Brownies for the naughty bit.
And to drink? How about a light Rosé from Provence? And a jug of Pimms and some ice cold beers?
Remember though to order some LVDY as well. You don’t want to spend next day searching for hangover remedies. And drink loads of water – it’s so easy to dehydrate on a sunny day.
